Port of Spain | March 13, 2026 – The Unit Trust Corporation (UTC) has reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to holistic development and youth empowerment by hosting a specialized financial well-being workshop for the players and members of the San Juan Jabloteh Football Club.
The session, held at the UTC’s Head Office in Port-of-Spain, marked the second year of a strategic partnership between the two organizations. It was designed to equip young athletes with the essential “off-the-field” skills required to navigate their financial futures with the same precision they apply to their sport.
The afternoon focused on the core fundamentals of investing, featuring a presentation by Business Development Officer at UTC, Sydnii Maxime. She shared insights on goal setting and disciplined money management, emphasizing that financial security is a result of consistent, intentional habits rather than a matter of chance.
“We want our young people to stay curious and feel empowered to take ownership of their financial journey,” said Shoba Ganess, Marketing Manager at UTC. “By renewing this partnership for a second year, we are telling these athletes that we believe in their potential far beyond the pitch.”
The energy shifted to an interactive simulation titled “The Game of Life,” managed by Buzz Concepts. During this segment, players navigated real-world financial scenarios where their choices directly impacted their success. The game mirrored the highs and lows of real life, demonstrating how smart saving and investment choices can provide a safety net when unexpected challenges arise.
Coach Phillip Fraser praised the initiative, noting that this kind of holistic exposure is vital for the modern athlete. “Our responsibility is to support these young men and women in every aspect of their lives, and that means preparing them for the reality of life beyond sport,” Fraser said. “Seeing the players engaged with the UTC team shows they understand the value of this investment.”
This partnership aligns with the Corporation’s ongoing efforts to empower citizens to deepen their understanding of financial literacy, as it views this as a gateway to financial freedom.
