UTC Team Members given career mobility opportunities

The Trinidad and Tobago Unit Trust Corporation recently celebrated the 5th Cohort of its Career BreakthrU programme with a special graduation ceremony.

Career BreakthrU, a playful combination of the word breakthrough and the U in UTC, is a programme designed to provide team members with anopportunity to explore different career aspirations, as well as hone new skills that can increase their potential for career mobility. Participants spent one year in different departments of interest while operating at a higher level of responsibility on projects and assignments.

This year, four candidates graduated from the programme: Kai Emmanuel, Keisha Alexander, Nicole Lewis, andSyndiiMaxime, who were assigned to areas of Digital Marketing, Trust Services, Advisory Services and Facilities Management, respectively.

“The Career BreakthrU programme gave me a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the Corporation’s business operations.My capabilities and expertise have grown tremendously through the exposure and practical work experience. I feel confident and poised to add even greater value to the Corporation’s achievement of its strategic goals and objectives.” said Keisha Alexander, one of the 2023 graduates.

The Head of Human Resources, Sonya Le Maître, in her feature address, encouraged the graduates to, “pause to recognise what has shaped you, the lessons learned, and skills acquired, to be able to harness it all toward continuing to fulfil your ultimate purpose. Your purpose is connected to that issue or cause you care and are most passionate about. Let’s take the opportunity to recommit to purposeful lives and enjoying the journey.”

She added that the Career BreakthrU programme was an avenue for Team Members to not only achieve their goals but also fuel the performance of the Corporation as they use their skills, talents, and passion to excel in the workplace.
