September22nd2015: The UTC Spartans Football team recently co-hosted a football clinic with the Loveuntil Foundation where they shared their expertise to a group of teenage boys from the Diego Martin North Secondary School, as part of a life skills training programme. Loveuntil is a non-governmental organization that reaches out to groups in crisis to help empower and increase their life chances and steer their thought processes in a positive direction.

As part of UTC’s commitment to supporting and contributing to youth development and building communities, the Corporation made a financial contribution amounting to $36,000.00 to this programme.

The football clinic kicked off with words of motivation by Philip Williams, UTC’s Manager, Research, Investment, Research and Portfolio Management. He shared his experiences as a youth and the impact of making right decisions in the face of adversity. He urged the studentsto always believe in themselves andto stay focused in achieving their dreams.

This was followed by a football session, where captain of the UTC Spartans F.C, Captain Derrick Eve, demonstrated football techniques as well as advice on maintaining fitness and nutrition. Beyond helping the students improve their football skills, the clinic aimed to improve their self-esteem and encouraged them to maintain a positive lifestyle.

Dale Jones, Program Manager of the Loveuntil Foundation expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Corporation for the initiative and thanked the UTC team for their hard work, dedication, enthusiasm and passion to ensure that the clinic came off.
