At UTC’s School’s Investment Game, Pres Chaguanas emerges victorious once again
Primary and Secondary schools across Trinidad and Tobago battled for a spot in the 2022 finals of the Unit Trust Corporation’s School’s Investment Game. Home-schooled student Ishaan Rambharoserose to the occasion as the first-place winner, and in the Secondary Schools category, Presentation College Chaguanas, for the second year in a row,cupped the first prize.
The three-week online competition allowed secondary schools to face off in a high-energy debate on investment and finance topics. In the end, the competitive four-member team of Presentation College, each won Gift of Units valued at TT$2,500 as well as new laptops.Also fiercely competing and placing second was Vishnu Boys’ Hindu College with each team member receiving TT$1,500 in Gift of Units and new laptops. North Gate College, placed third, each team member walking away with Gift of Units valued at TT$1,000 and new laptops.
Packaged in an equally engaging and educational format, primary school students participated by submitting individual essays and videos that captured the student’s creativity with saving and managing their allowances.
Winning student, Rambharose receivedTT$2,500 in Gift of Units and a new laptop. Tying for second place, with brilliant presentations was Liam Rajkumar of Freeport Presbyterian and Aiden Yash Abdool of Trinidad Renaissance, who both received Gift of Units and laptops.
At the prize presentation, done in person at the respective schools,our winners expressed their excitement and joy in participating in the competition. This year, Unit Trust, a mutual funds investment company whose aim is to nurture a culture of savings and investing, looks forward to many more schools and students benefiting from this educational competition.
