The Calypso Macro Index Fund is a closed-end mutual fund, which will provide investors with an opportunity to mirror the macroeconomic landscape of Trinidad and Tobago in each single unit by investing in the local stock market and global energy companies.
The Fund offers investors the opportunity to:
1) Realize instant diversification - At inception, each Unit will comprise a combination of sixteen (16) key locally listed companies as well as close to one hundred (100) energy companies from across the globe. Each Unit will provide a well-diversified portfolio, which otherwise would not be easily attainable by individual and institutional investors.
2) Invest in a quick and convenient way without the administrative or record keeping burdens normally associated with the direct ownership of such a wide array of local and international securities.
The objective of the Fund is to provide Unitholders the opportunity to invest, through equities (stocks), in the macroeconomic framework of Trinidad & Tobago through each Unit.
The portfolio will be constructed to match or track the components of a market index, which in this case, is a weighted combination of all securities on the All T&T Index on the TTSE and a Global Energy Index. In the 2015 Budget, Energy vs Non-Energy revenue measured 35:65; the Fund will mirror this distribution as follows:
- 35%: Funds traded on Global Energy Index
- 65%: Securities listed on the All T&T Index
