Chaconia Income & Growth Fund International Game Fishing Tournament

 

The 8th annual Chaconia Income and Growth Fund International Game Fishing Tournament came to a successful close on Saturday 6th March 2004. The tournament is a major fundraiser of the Rotary Club of Diego Martin and the major sponsor is the Unit Trust Corporation. This year, the funds raised from the prestigious international tournament was distributed to provide on-going assistance to the medical assistance to various charities such as: The Aids Foundation in support of Mothers with Aids, as well as medical assistance to the needy in the Bagatelle and Beausejour communities in Diego Martin. An information Community Centre in Diego Martin will also be established.

Anglers had the opportunity to fish for White Marlin, Blue Marlin, Atlantic Sailfish, Dolphin, Tuna, Wahoo and King Fish, no records were broken this year.

The angler bringing to scale the largest Tuna was Leo Ramdwar from the boat “Barracuda”. The angler bringing to scale the heaviest Dolphin was Goran Quardfordt from the boat Viking IV. The best female angler was Cindy Thorton from the boat Barbie Doll II. However the star of the night was young Micheal De Freitas who won the prize for best junior angler and the heaviest Wahoo caught (70lbs 8 ozs) from the boat “Escape”.

Copping the prize for heaviest overall catch was “Celeste” who brought in a total of 403 lbs of fish with the prize for the best boat (based on overall points) going to Barbie Doll II
