UTC Connecting People to the environment

July 3, 2017: The nine Investment Centres of the Unit Trust Corporation spread across the country was a hive of activity recently, as staff distributed over 800 seedlings to unitholders in recognition of World Environment Day and the UTC’s“Think Green and Plant a Tree” initiative.

The Corporation’s aim was to encourage our customers to appreciate the value of preserving the environment and how they can make a tangible contribution to sustainable community development. The initiative also brought into focus the fragility andbeauty and diversity of the natural world in which we coexist. The seedlings distributedvaried from pimentos to chive to tomatoes and melongene.

To bring a focus to the significance of the environment and how UTC is playing its part to preserve it, Neisha Victor of UTC’s Supply Chain Management and coordinator of the initiative, noted that UTC is committed to engaging its customers and this environmental project was a vehicle to do so.
“We are encouraging them to channel their energies to building a sustainable environment and sensitize our customers to “thinking green,” she said.

The UTC recognizes that the well-being of the nation’s environment depends on the responsible management of the country’s natural resources. An environmental project such as participating in World Environment Day is an example of the organization’s commitment to corporate social responsibility, CSR. World Environment Day is one of the many ways the organization takes positive action to protect its natural surroundings.
