UTC supports Red Cross Kiddies Carnival with $20,000

February 2nd 2016: ¬†Staff at the Unit Trust Corporation volunteered their time and brought smiles to the faces of the children attending Red Cross Kiddies Carnival held on Carnival Saturday at the Queen’s Park Savannah.

Over five hundred children from twenty homes across the country were afforded the opportunity to witness the splendor, colour and creativity from the Grand Stand of the children’s bands crossing the Savannah stage for Carnival 2016.

The annual event is pivotal to the Carnival calendar, with UTC once again collaborating with the Red Cross Committee on their diamond anniversary, to make memories with the children and their caretakers.

As part of UTC’s commitment to supporting and contributing to the development and promotion of culture in Trinidad and Tobago, the Corporation made a financial contribution amounting to $20,000.00 to the event.

The UTC volunteers distributed gifts, food and drinks to the children, took them on the “drag” to get a close up of the bands and ensured they were engaged during the show.

“We made new friends and it was such a joy to see the children smiling and enjoying the show. It was truly a rewarding experience for me,” said Samantha Baird, Supervisor, UTC Investment Centre, who played an active role as a volunteer during the event.

Baird, along with the other volunteers, expressed joy and spoke of having made a difference in getting the children immersed in the day’s activities. They expressed the view that it was memorable and savoured the moments.

Chairperson of Red Cross Children’s Carnival, Vindra Amar, was appreciative of the UTC’s financial contribution. “I wish to especially thank the Unit Trust Corporation and their team of volunteers for their involvement at the event. The enthusiasm and hard work in supporting us with the Children’s Homes brought a lot of joy and happiness to them.”¬† Also in attendance was Her Excellency Reema Carmona, as the Patron of the Red Cross who enjoyed the company of the children.
