UTC brings environment into focus

October 20, 2014: As part of the Unit Trust Corporation’s commitment to caring for the environment, UTC staff took their energies and channeled it into sustainable initiatives that brought value to the communities in which the Corporation operates.

With this in mind, team members from the Tobago investment center and Electronic Distribution Channels (EDC) recently conducted beach clean-ups at Kilgwyn Beach, Bon Accord and Hart’s Cut Bay, Chaguaramas, an activity that not only preserves the natural environment but provides an opportunity for team building.

This initiative was complemented with an environmental education drive by the Supply Chain Management Department, who spearheaded a recycling project with children of the Humming Bird Day Camp, who were sensitized to the effects of pollution and presented with tips on developing good habits to reduce our carbon footprint.

The goal of the Corporation is to building communities through the pillars of education, health, sports, art and culture, improving the physical environment and enhancing the standard of living.

Peter Campbell, Head of Communications, Chaguaramas Development Authority (CDA) commended the UTC team for their efforts in maintaining the environment of the peninsula as a nature lover’s paradise.

Franz Mc Conney, Senior Advisor, Supply Chain Management said, “The children were very eager to learn about the environment, teaching them from an early age will ensure that they practice better habits as they get older and maybe spread it to their friends.”
