Wendell Mottley Appointed New UTC Chairman


 Chairman2nd January 2013:  The Trinidad and Tobago Unit Trust Corporation (TTUTC) is pleased to welcome Wendell Mottley as its new Chairman. Mr. Mottley will take over as Chairman on 1st January 2013 when the term of the current Chairman, Ms. Amoy Chang Fong, comes to an end.

Mr. Mottley served as Minister of Finance of Trinidad and Tobago from 1991-1995 and was most recently based in New York as a Managing Director and Senior Advisor at Credit Suisse, a leading investment banking firm, from which he retired in December 2011.

Having made his mark as an athlete at the Commonwealth Games and medaling in the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, Mr. Mottley then went on to earn economics degrees from Yale University and Cambridge and to a distinguished career in Finance.

Mr. Mottley will succeed Ms. Amoy Chang Fong who served as the Chairman of the Unit Trust Corporation from December 2004 to December 2012.  A former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, Ms. Chang Fong was also a member of the first UTC Board in 1982.  The Corporation wishes to thank Ms. Chang Fong for her sterling contributions to the growth and development of the Unit Trust Corporation during her tenure.

As the leading mutual fund company in Trinidad and Tobago, the Unit Trust Corporation manages over TT$20 billion in assets among its ten Funds, six of which are invested in the international markets as part of its strategy of providing a diversified choice of products to unitholders.   Mr. Mottley brings his vast experience of local and international financial markets to the TTUTC as the Corporation moves to modernize the Act that governs the Corporation and to meet the challenges of the changing regulatory and business environment.
