Bethel Villagers Participate in the UTC Sponsored Tobago Heritage Celebrations in Bethel UTC CMO Amoy Van Lowe Presents Check to Tobago Heritage Festival CommitteeUTC Joins Bethel Village to Host “A Home Away from Home” at Tobago Heritage FestivalVisitors to the sister isle were given an extra special treat in mid July when the UTC, for the past ten consecutive years played a role in the grand Tobago Heritage Festival. "The Tobago Heritage Festival celebrates the vast cultural heritage of the people of Tobago," said Garnet Peters who attended the UTC Sponsored Bethel Village celebrations. "Every year the celebration is made possible through the support of businesses like the UTC." The UTC kicked off their Tobago Heritage celebrations by giving their customers a "taste" of Tobago at their Customer Appreciation Day on July 11. In addition to refreshments, customers were treated to the musical splendor of the New Dimension Choir as they visited the UTC Office in lower Scarborough. "There is no better time than Tobago Heritage festival to celebrate with our unit holders in Tobago," said Jennifer Fabien Browne, UTC Regional Manager, Tobago. Customers visiting the UTC offices in Tobago on that day also received a special token from the UTC and were invited to join the UTC sponsored cultural performance in the village of Bethel the next evening. Many responded to that invitation and despite inclement weather, the residents of Bethel Village came out in their numbers to support an excellent cultural show put on by its very own. A lively crowd at Montgomery Grounds Bethel cheered on the performances and even heckled "Ajouba" the star of the show. This year, Bethel's theme, 'Ajouba, A Home Away from Home', was portrayed through exceptional musical and theatrical performances prominently featuring the talents of the Bethel Village and special guest performers. The portrayal continues the saga of Ajouba who married his childhood sweet heart in Africa but subsequently left his homeland to take up a scholarship opportunity. Ajouba ended up on the beautiful shores of Tobago to participate in an exciting series of memorable events one of which is an African drum festival in honor of the DJembe' The UTC provided a special treat for those at the Bethel Village celebrations by presenting tokens of appreciation to those in attendance. The event also featured a UTC hospitality suite wherein UTC Chief Marketing Officer, Amoy Van Lowe and UTC Regional Manager, Tobago, Mrs Jennifer Fabien-Browne joined a few specially invited guests including Garnet Peters President of the Tobago Heritage Festival Committee and The Honourable Cynthia Alfred, Secretary, Community Development, Tobago House of Assembly. Guests were treated to the sumptuous local cuisine that Tobago is well known for and a good time was experienced by all "The UTC is pleased to partner with the organizing committee of the Bethel celebrations and the Tobago Heritage festival to provide such an excellent platform for the showcasing of immense talents in Tobago," said Amoy Van Lowe, Chief Marketing Officer of the UTC.
