Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) Scholarship 2005The Unit Trust Corporation awarded Scholarship to five (5) outstanding students who have excelled in their Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) examination. These students were presented with their awards at a function held at the Penthouse of the UTC Financial Centre on August 24, 2005. The recipients of the Secondary Entrance Assessment Scholarship Programme 2005 are Johnique De Gannes (North/West), Samantha Sammy (East), Latifa Farrell (Central), Adeola Young (South) and O’Chae Cyrus (Tobago). The programme, which began in 1996, consists of a seven-year secondary school scholarship. The five (5) students received books and relevant supplies up to the value of $1,200.00 per year for a total of $8,400 per student. The Unit Trust Scholarships are established to help students who display academic brilliance and potential but find themselves at a disadvantage due to financially stricken circumstances. The award-winning students are chosen based on recommendations from school principals throughout the country. Students are selected on the basis of academic performance coupled with their need for financial support. This year’s Scholarship winners bring the number of students in the Unit Trust Secondary Entrance Assessment Scholarship Programme to thirty-two (32). Larry OltonAsst.
