In just ten months the UTC has grown its assets under management by $2 Billion. This was shared by the UTC Executive Director, Marlon Holder in his brief address to customers and members of the media at the UTC’s Annual Appreciation Function on November 13.

“Our (UTC) results this year (2008) have exceeded all our expectations,” said the UTC’s Executive Director. The UTC began 2008 with $19 Billion in Assets under Management and six hundred and sixty nine thousand accounts (669,000). “In just ten months, our (UTC’s) Assets under Management total over $21 billion….and we have quickly passed the 700 thousand account milestone with 706 thousand accounts to date.” What does this mean to investors with the UTC? “This year we (UTC) will also pay one of our largest distributions ever to our unitholders .” he stated. The Trinidad and Tobago Unit Trust Corporation Card Services Department and a few other UTC colleagues recently visited ‘The Hope Centre’, to share the light of their love with children at the Hope Centre (a home for socially displaced children).

This was the second visit to the Hope Centre by UTC volunteers this year as many vowed to return to the Centre following a fun day hosted by the UTC for the Children in August of this year. “The atmosphere was filled with great expectation and we did not plan to disappoint,” said Anson Joseph, UTC volunteer at the activity. The small Divali celebration featured a reading on ‘What is Divali’, a friendly coloring competition, games and even a birthday celebration for one of the children! Read More

For the third consecutive year Mungal Patasar brought additional joy to those gathered to celebrate Divali at the Trinidad and Tobago Unit Trust Corporation’s Annual Divali Celebration at the UTC Customer Service Centre in Chaguanas. The beautiful beaches of Tobago are often the destination of choice for many of us on weekends and public holidays. This was the case for the team from the Unit Trust Corporation (UTC) Tobago Customer Service Centre on Republic Day, September 24, 2008. However, they did not go to just take in a day of relaxation. Instead, the UTC team hit the beach with Environment Tobago to help keep it clean for future visitors and collected 1,069 pounds of garbage in the process! Read More

Soon families and patients facing pediatric cancer will have a more comfortable treatment facility – with computer access thanks to the UTC. Most children spend their August holidays hoping to enjoy outdoor family activities. On Saturday August 9, the 200 children of the St. Mary’s Children’s Home (SMCH) spent their weekend with the UTC family as the UTC hosted a “Fun Day” for the staff and students at the SMCH grounds. Read More

Visitors to the sister isle were given an extra special treat in mid July when the UTC, for the past ten consecutive years played a role in the grand Tobago Heritage Festival. “The Tobago Heritage Festival celebrates the vast cultural heritage of the people of Tobago,” said Garnet Peters who attended the UTC Sponsored Bethel Village celebrations. “Every year the celebration is made possible through the support of businesses like the UTC.” Read More

On Saturday 19th July 2008 over 200 volunteers from the Trinidad and Tobago Unit Trust Corporation joined volunteers from across the country to assist in the rehabilitation of the Pediatric Specialty Unit at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex. This comes as a result of the continued work by the Just Because Foundation (a non-profit organization dedicated to the improving the lives of children and families facing the challenges of pediatric cancer) and the NCHRA to provide more comfortable facilities for children and families facing pediatric cancer treatment at the nation’s largest health facility. The Trinidad and Tobago Unit Trust Corporation (UTC) has announced their largest dividend payout in three years in the Growth and Income Fund (First Unit Scheme) and all its related plans. The value of the dividend payment, for the period January 01 to June 30 2008, is estimated to be over TT$130 million and represents the 51st distribution payment of the twenty-six year history of the Growth and Income Fund.
